My Drops Magic Hat And Free Matching Boot Cuffs Pattern!

One day I was googling patterns and I came across a free pattern by Drops design. I fell in love with the hat and I knew I had to crochet it.

I went down to my local yarn shop, Chix with Stix and one of the really sweet ladies that works there, helped me pick out some really beautiful self-striping yarn. The yarn we picked was Lang Yarns Mille Colori Baby #50. I really love this yarn.

One of the skeins of yarn had a tangle in it so I pulled out my yarn winder and quickly wound it up for easier use.

I couldn't wait to get started!

This yarn was a lot of fun to use and it is very lightweight and nice. I wouldn't say it is the softest yarn that I have used but I really liked it.

The hat pattern was also a fun pattern to follow and I really enjoyed this project.

I didn't have enough yarn (or money to buy more yarn) to crochet the shawl or the wrist warmers too but I did have enough left over yarn to crochet matching boot cuffs. I used the Drops pattern as a guide and made up a pattern which I will include below.

Materials For The Hat and Boot Cuffs:

E Hook (3.5 mm)

Sock weight yarn (I used 2 skeins of Lang Yarns Mille Colori Baby #50)

Scissors

Darning needle

Measuring tape (optional but helpful)

My Hat Notes:

My head is only 20 inches around so I only crocheted 6 squares for my hat.

For My Matching Boot Cuffs:

My legs with jeans measure about 12.5 inches. I crocheted 4 of the Drop's granny squares and attached them the same way as the pattern for the hat.

After crocheting and attaching the squares together in a circle, I crocheted the "cuff" (bottom section) of the boot cuffs.

The "Cuff" (Bottom Section)

R1: Slip stitch to one of the chain 4 spaces. This will be the back of the boot cuff. Chain 3, and in every chain 4 space work 3 double crochets all the way around. Slip stitch to the top of the chain 3.
R2: Chain 3 and double crochet in each stitch around. Slip Stitch to the top of the chain 3.
R3-R7: Repeat R2. (Can add or subtract rows for a shorter or longer "cuff".)

The Border (The Top)

R1: Slip stitch to one of the chain 4 spaces toward the back of the boot cuff. Chain 1 and in each of the chain 4 spaces work 3 single crochets and chain 3. Repeat all the way around. Slip stitch to the chain 1.

Cut the yarn, weave in the ends and enjoy your new boots cuffs!

I hope this is helpful <3

Soft hugs <3
